In spite of her inexperience, Seong Mi-na is a highly-gifted fighter in the Soulcalibur series and is renowned for her use of the “Seong-Style Longsword and Staff Technique.” Possessing great strength, stamina, and agility, Mi-na primarily uses the Scarlet Thunder blade as her weapon of choice. Dismayed at her defeat, Mi-na eventually discovers a powerful warrior by the name of Kong, who takes her on as his disciple and trains her extensively in swordsmanship and combat so that a similar defeat will not happen again. Upon learning of Mi-na’s intent to acquire the Soul Edge for herself, Ivy rebukes her for not knowing of the sword’s evil nature and engages her in combat, defeating Mi-na with ease. After leaving Hwang and her father behind, Mi-na’s journey eventually brings her into contact with Ivy. She later returns to her quest, however, as her father’s insistence on marrying Hwang (following her arrival) caused her great dismay. Portrayed in the series as a character on a quest for the “Sword of Salvation,” Mi-na was later forced to cut her quest short after encountering Hwang, who convinced Mi-na to aid Korea against Japanese raiders.
